Prout International is delighted with the news that Team Alinghi and BMW Oracle Racing have both selected multihulls featuring "axe bow" designs for the upcoming 33rd America's Cup campaign.
 
Prout International after two years of intense R&D is pleased to announce the first semi-production/ custom axe bow sailing and power multihulls yachts ranging from 52' to 420'. The newest additions to the fleet are the PT-162.5' axe bow, the foiled world cruising 138' Super Tri sailing yacht, and the little sister the P-53 catamaran.

The Prout International Design Team states: "The axe bow design offers a pleasing and unique value to the aesthetics of the yacht. From a technical basis the axe bow also increases two important design elements which are: increasing the water line length (L.W.L.) and length overall (L.O.A.) achieving greater boat speed than that of more traditional designs. Lastly and most importantly, the axe-bow design reduces reserve buoyancy - resulting in less vertical lift, adding stability to the hull form, and providing for superior comfort underway in all sea states."
